Our Q7 is scheduled for delivery around mid January. We're relocating from Scandinavia to New England.

Over here, we're very used to purchasing two sets of tires - one for summer, and another (typically studded) set for winter.

I am wondering should we be looking to purchase an additional set of winter tires (though not studded!) for the Q7?

Basically, when it says "All Season" - what kind of seasons does that mean ;-) Can these tires safely handle a new england winter or would we be better to replace them with dedicated winters?

Snow tires are the only way to go if snow is typical during winter months. If only cold dry weather, all seasons will get you by.

I'd go snow.

Thanks, that's what I figured but have had no experience of all season tires so wanted to double check. Had better start planning then. Thanks again!

I also have been inclined to have a summer and winter set of tires. We don't get that much deep snow here (Indiana), but things get wet & icy often. Those conditions alone deserve a tire compound optimized to those conditions. I basically consider it a safety issue when people question why I don't use all seasons.
