Whoever at Audi decided to make the rear headrests not removable, should be sentenced to watch every Barney movie ever made. Our Graco toddler seats would not fit at all. The top of the seat contacts the headrest and the back of the child seat does not contact the car seat. Not safe at all. The Recaro Young Sport seats work fine and are great. Got them here: http://www.elitecarseats.com/Recaro-Young-Sport.pro

The Recaro seats are more upright and match the seatback angle in the Q7. With the head protection set at level 3 on the child seat, they just clear the headrests. I'm concerned that when we convert the Recaro Young Sport to booster seats and raise the head protection, it may not clear the headrests. Time will tell.

Nice seat, and available at Target.com too, though often out of stock.

The place we bought them was out of every color except solid black, which luckily is what we wanted.

Does the Recaro be placed in rear facing position as well? Also does it have the LATCH system?

Default Recaro is front facing only-20 to 80lb range. It has great LATCH attachment clips and the Q7...

has the LATCH points clearly out in the open, not like our previous MDX that had LATCH points under the cushions. However, to find the back center LATCH points on the Q7, you need to move the rear seats forward on their tracks.

Default The young sport is a front facing only toddler seat. It does have LATCH

Another possible alternative is the Radian 65 from Sunshine Kids. We have one in our Touareg and it's really quite nice. We bought it specifically because it's much shorter than the Britax Marathons we have (which will not fit the Q7 at all). It can be used rear facing.

Of course, any rear facing child seat won't have a problem with the Q7 headrests.

Not sure but the seat cushion may be too short in the middle.
