Default Thule 440 on my Q7

They fit tight and strong but the inside clamps don't look very good, they should be longer.

Default oooh, i think you're asking for problems with that inside clamp

With load on there at driving speed, there will be a LOT of rearward force (+ lift with a roof box). With only that friction mount on the inside, that will fly off easily

Those circular indentations are used by the Thule 4902 feet (there's Q7-specific fit kit) to hold the rack snug to the rails. The angle of the clamp also makes it difficult/near-impossible for it to be forced off.

Since you already have the crossbars, they may be transferrable to the 4902 feet/fit kit. Use that shop in the UK -- great service, decent price. (IIRC, www.roofrackshop.com)

I think I'm going to return these and wait for the one that's made for the Q7...

Default Yea -- that looks like trouble....

so i guess the 440 feet are different from the UK 4902 kit....

Does anyone have pics similar to the ones above of the UK ordered 4902 feet.

Just curious if they are the same.....

See those two little holes under the clamp...the UK fit kit has pins that fit into those holes.

The OE Audi roof bars look silly sitting so high off the roof. Get the Thule aero bars from the UK.

Default So the fitkit makes the difference?

Hmm. So the feet are the same, but the fitkit causes the extension of the clamping farther down into the rail (i.e. as far as the hole markers) - causing a tighter fit??

makes sense.

Default Feet look similar but Q7 inside clamp is different from the 440. See link.
