I used to be able to fit my Thule cargo box and 2 bikes atop of my Touareg with some room to spare.

same price as the Audi set and more versatile if you have Thule attachments already. Which box did you go with. I have an Evolution 1200 for my allroad but want something more on the lines of the size you have.
btw, I love the front and rear skid plate option on your Q. I wish I culd have ordered this I we purchased ours.

Do you have to purchase the rapid rail load bars or can existing ones be used?

I use the Audi rack system on the wife's A8 and it downright gets irritating at high speed. Believe it or not, when I test drove the Q7 I found it to be better insulated for sound than her car.

I bought the Atlantis 1600.(74" x 36" x 16")
The 1800 would fit also, but it came to far forward for my liking. It comes in black or silver.
The wind noise didn't seem to bad, but i havn't gone very far as yet. We are going to the mountains tomorrow for a true test.

Travelled to and from Ireland and the UK and covered a round trip of around 700 miles on motorways and local roads. Wind noise is not too noticable with the bars and box (not a Thule box). The audiopilot noise cancellation function of the Bose stereo helps a lot (I think it matches wind noise with white noise to cancel)
