Tire Tread wear
Wanted to query the forum and ask about the tire wear on Michelin Latitude Tour HP - 275/45R20 XL I purchased for our 20007 Q7.
I understand there are LOTS of variables when it comes to tire wear such as driving style, temperature, the softer they are, the quieter they are, and they wear faster ... It's pretty much all a tradeoff. But, we bought these Michelins at around 35K and I am at roughly 49K today and coming very close to the tread wear lines.
15K seems light compared to what I expected from Michelins with a tread wear indicator of 440 ... especially since the tires we replaced (Factory original Conti's) were replaced at 35K.
Does this sound right to anyone?

You actually changed them at 31k, it's better but not much. Your mileage has dropped over 5k a year so perhaps the type of driving has changed too?
BaystateQ is the only other person to have reported the same change as you. No mileages given as yet.
Most people have changed whatever they were on between 18 and 26K so you are on target for that anyway but did well on your first set.

Nah, It was recorded in "The" spreadsheet
from you post at that time.
I actually misread mileage by one line (was reading mileage of "jmcd" car) so disregard the mileage comment although you did seem to rack up a lot early on.
Also noted you were in MA when car arrived, now in NV?

6,000+ on my Michelins - barely scratched the treads...
Your tire wear does seem excessive. Have you been carrying heavy loads or pushing the Q to its limits? Is the wear even on all 4 tires? More on ne side than the other?

I reckon these cars simply chew up tyres far too quickly (as well as brakes and discs but thats another story). I have posted before about tyre concerns and despite driving it like my grandmother, trying all different tyre pressures, different suspension settings etc - it just doesn't seem to help.
I have to say the Conti CrossContacts I now have are far superior to the OEM Goodyears I had previously, but still the wear is noticable.
I love this car - but the tyre/brake/disc costs are the #1 reason I would not get another and in fact get rid of it early. Probably consider another Allroad or the Q5.
