trailer prewiring

trailer prewiring
I just had a trailer hitch installed by local body shop on my Q7. Does anyone know where in the vehicle to find the "trailer prewiring." I'm not sure if I need to buy just the 7 pin plug adapter or an entire wiring harness. Thanks

links to previous threads may help
previous thread regarding EBC also TSB and VIN #s related info. So production date is relevent.
Possibly the best previous thread here tons of links and pics:-)
Please report back on outcome. Oh and welcome.
PS This is my first test post on Q7 since VB (not a fan). Still split between AW and elsewhere but I have so much info stored from here.

hitch and adaptive suspension....
another hitch question here - just picked up my 07 4.2 with factory hitch, but I don't seem to have the adaptive suspension system - not in the MMI - I've been reading the manual and am confused a bit - is it possible to tow without the adaptive suspension system? ... I'm sure it's possible since the provision is made for aftermarket hitch - but need some guidance here - thanks!

I am sure the short answer is yes but I dont really do those.
There are several elements to towing mode.
1: If you have air suspension once you plug in the electrics it will automatically go into towing mode preventing the suspension from dropping below 3 bars or comfort level.
It will also automatically change gearbox settings but that can be selected manually by MMI, SETUP, towing mode (just above jacking mode) I have engaged mine when on slipway and boat penn without trailer board.
If you are on springs then all other systems should still function. In other words it effectively stiffens air setup and ride level to springs equivillent
2: with factory and aftermarket (providing the trailer control module is used) the stabliser system onboard will use the brakes to activate anti-sway.
3: The OEM system also interacts with the reverse sensors preventing them beeping when engaged
4: OEM system does a bulb check and report when you plug in electrics.
It changes the resistance values for bulbs so as not to give flase bulb failure reports
I dont know if any of that answers much for you

thanks jusforfun!
... I had read and re-read the section on towing in the manual and was still scratching my head - you've helped me a lot - tomorrow I'm taking the Q to the dealer for a complete check-out since I purchased through a non-Audi channel - so far I really like the ride, albeit very elevated! ... I'll ask the dealer to clarify any other towing questions tomorrow - thanks again!
