Default Tyre size confusion?

I wonder if someone can help, I've just purchased a set of Kahn 22x10 alloys for my 2011 Audi Q7 with air suspension. Now I'm confused on what size tyre to fit. Now I've been told that I can fit 285/40/22. Does anyone know if these will fit and not rub??

You would be increasing the diameter of your tire by almost 3'! So that's something you'd want to test fit BEFORE you buy. That seems like quite a bit to me, but then again the Q7 does have a lot of fender clearance.

I think it'll fit @ 31in OD, the Touareg guys put on big tires all the time and the clearances should be quite similar on a Q7.. For a TDI they claim you can go up to 31.5in OD before you get intermittent rubbing on the intercooler vents when turning.. non boosted vehicles can go a lil bigger since they dont have vents in the wheel wells but not much bigger.

I've got 30in wheels right now, and feel it'd have no problems if I went up another inch.. well other than the fact that the space saver spare would be quite a bit smaller than any of my tires.. but a road side assistance plan with enough towing miles would help mitigate that.
