Urgent - Need help with brake sensor

I just replaced both front brake pads with Hawk LTS. I also replaced the sensors with new ones. However, when I start the car the brake pad warning light still comes on although not every time (most times). I assume there is some issue with the sensor but of course the car doesn't tell you which side is the issue. Can anyone tell me how to troubleshoot this?
I have tried to see if I just connect one end to the car and don't connect the other ends to the pad whether that would help. It doesn't seem to. I would assume if the sensor is working correctly I could connect the main to the car and have the others out as I thought the sensor was tripped by the small metal clips on the pad side touching some base material.
I do also have a multimeter if that helps as again I don't know what to look for. I really need to get the car going again so any help really appreciated!

As an update, I ran a continuity check on both sensors and both worked. So I am assuming these new sensors are not the issue. I started the car again and the brake light did not come on. I took it for a drive to bed the brakes, and the light stayed off. I am not sure of the issue here and whether it will come again. At this point if it does I will check continuity of the rear brakes assuming perhaps those have worn down enough. Quite the timing if it were that.
