Does anyone know how to extend the camera display, so that the parking sensor display is transparent? I can't find how to enable it? It looks like its in towing mode? I've also changed the camera view to that, and I still don't get a full display?
Mine on both the 4.2 and TDI look like your first two images. Rear sensors only on the 4.2, front/rear on the TDI (2013). Have not seen the boxed like your last image.
i think ours came with wider angle cameras and we got the front/rear side views (periscope mode).. probably uses software de-warping so the resulting image is 4:3 and not all fisheyed 16:9 and thus the difference.. its not a downgrade really, those modes are really nice when your backing out or pulling into traffic and blind.
mine look like yours, also a 2014.. those older shots w/transparent are clearly 16:9 but they dont have periscope options it appears.

Could be; I've tried looking at different years and packages and not noticed anything specific. The corner cams could be the differentiator. I'm sure the corner cams are nice, but I've never used them. Usually any dangerous spots have a mirror for safety (tight parking garages). I've always just used those.
Dang. I'll keep looking. It just looks cleaner full screen, and while I don't have OCD or anything, it sure as hell bugs me!
My “09” model is the same as the 2 top pics but that is with mmi 2g high. Perhaps with the 3g mmi things changed a little unless you can confirm that those top 2 pics are from a 3g spec car??
After looking at my owners manual it seems to confirm the top two pics in the OP are from a vehicle with just the back up camera "Audi Parking System Plus". The third pic is from a vehicle with the corner cameras "Audi Parking System Plus with Front-Rear View Cameras". Not sure why they would not give a premium feature the full screen though.

Yeah that's exactly what I think. Seems it should be able to be enabled... However it's looking tied to the corner cams, as in if those are coded out it might default to that look. Super unfortunate.
