Twice. Which was fun because it was in the middle of our hottest summer in a long time.
Spent 3 more visits chasing dash rattles and a buzzing noise which was finally remedied by a full dash "kit" that had an Audi part #. But was essentially just a bunch of felt.
It's starting to come back again and our service depts answer when we asked about it again was, 'no errors, can't reproduce, no problems.' I'll be overjoyed when they finally fail again.

My q7 was manufactured after nov 2007. Should I be worried about this issue. I have a click in my dash somewhere around the steering wheel. But i only hear it on bumpy roads.
So this stepper motor has to do with the air conditioning.

The vent stepper motors sound like a mechanical dishwasher timer.
You just got a rattle.
You can hear them in this (low grade) video of TDI engine.<ul><li><a href="http://s231.photobucket.com/albums/ee79/Jusfofun/Car%20stuff/?action=view&current=30TDIstartupandidle.flv"> http://s231.photobucket.com/albums/ee79/Jusfofun/Car%20stuff/?action=view&current=30TDIstartupandidle.flv</a</li></ul>

Anyone else have any problems with the stepper motors clicking? My Q7 has been at the dealer for 6 days now while they order the parts and replace all of them. Just received a note today that they now have to order an airbag connector which will be in tomorrow. While I am upset about how long it's taken, they have at least given us a '10 Q5 Prestige to drive around.

I had the same clicking noise just after startup, and mailed the video from JustforFun to the dealer. They are replacing the stepper motors under warranty. The video was really helpful, since this problem is not possible to find with the diagnostic system from Audi. I think it is purely mechanical. So far they have replaced 4 of the total 8 (the last 4 was not on stock), and the last 4 will be replaced on the 15th of April. After changing the first 4, I still here the same clicking. My model is a 10/06, as far as I remember.

Mine were replaced in January. They were clicking and the dealer explained that there was a TSB on this. They had to remove my dash twice. Once for the initial replacement of all 11 motors, then a second time a couple of weeks later to chase down a loose screw the tech left behind the dash and to replace one of the new motors that turned out to be defective.
Maybe I'm lucky, but I have no rattles/squeaks and everything seems to work as before (without the clicking).
