Default 2018 Q7 - Dual pane glass for side windows and windshield

Looking to order a 2018 Q7, loaded. I currently have a 2013 A8 with acoustic glass in the windshield and side front windows. Looking to see if anyone know if the 2018 Q7 will provide acoustic glass. This could be a deal breaker... Thanks - Dan

Different countries have different options regarding the glass. If you add your location to your profile it'll help with responses.

I asked specifically about that. Apparently windshield is acoustic glass, however side windows are not. At least they are not laminated acoustic glass.

Have you driven one yet? Even without side acoustic glass the Q7 is probably one of the quietest interriors I have ever been in.

Manufacturers have been finding ways to make cars quieter over the last few years. The reason for layered acoustic glass was to eliminate wind noise at speed and outside noises (other vehicles) not transmitted through chassis (engine, tires). Advances in aerodynamics and body shaping have decreased the wind noise significantly and added thickness to tempered glass have in a way achieved the same result. However, inclusion of layered acoustic glass on Q7 would probably have a noticeable difference even though it is very quiet.

Thank everyone for your feedback. I have driven the Q7 and agree it is very quiet. I have a sensitivity to hearing in my left ear so I am doing a lot of extra research with this purchase. Everyone's feedback has been very helpful. FYI, the Audi dealer in Nashua NH has been outstanding with providing me Q7's to drive. A great dealer!!!

I'm 100% deaf in my right ear, with a ton of tinnitus in it instead. When I'm driving, I'm usually asking my wife and kids... "WHAT?"

...but not in the Q7. It's absolutely the most quiet SUV (or any car) we've ever had. I can have a conversation while driving with anyone in the car, even 3rd row, without raising my voice or having to say HUH?
