Default 2019 3.0T hp change

Just check 2019 sepcs.
Audi change 3.0T to 55 TFSI.
They are the same supercharger engine but HP is 329.
I remembered it was 333 HP last year.
I am surprising it tuned down the power instead of increasing it.

Different engine I believe, the new one is turbo so the designation has changed and not necessarily the power

But the torque and RPM is the same.
Is it the turbo one?

Same engine, same tuning as before. The horsepower is just being calculated differently now. Nothing physically has changed.

This. It's across the VWAG lineup. Golf R for example, was 292hp last year, 288 this year. Same engine, same tune.

It seems like car manufacturers are taking the cue from the government. What's the point of comparing HP numbers if they changed based on arbitrary way of calculating it. Same with fuel economy or adjusted cost of living .... We should just have following designations for the cars - it goes: put, put, put, or wroom, or swish, or weeeeeeee........

I believe it had to due with the emissions issue...leaner mixture = less hp, in forced induction engines a richer mixture helps prevent potential engine damage as the hp is increased via higher boost pressure etc

Refer to post #4.

From Audi:
Starting with 2019 MY, rated horsepower will be derived from a single, global kilowatt (kW) metric, confirmed by an SAE horsepower test. All driving and performance characteristics such as fuel economy and 0-60 times remain the same as prior Model Year

Why the need for the change...wonder if my thoughts still had something to do with this?
