When I approach the Q7 that has been sitting in the sun I usually remotely open the hatch, IME this help a lot to dissipate the heat by the time I get in and get the A/C going.

Yep - definitely helps. Wish you could schedule a time for the AC to circulate, like my X5 had. I'd set it for 4:45pm, walk out of my office to the car at 5pm. It didn't make it "cool", but it definitely did help in the crippling heat of Atlanta's summer months.
