Good morning guys,
filling you all in, my Audi has been in the shop since August 8th. After having the blower, engine gaskets and almost 20k in repairs, it was giving engine errors. Once it was back in the shop it has spend the last two months with the shop foreman trying to figure out what is wrong. The 4th piston is being replaced and they are hoping it fixes the issue.
I also reached out to Audi and requested a buy back. They denied the request because I am out of warranty. I showed service orders shower my complaints and the dealer failing to detect anything wrong. I also has been looking at classaction.org and the 2.0 engine up to 2017 has this issue. I recommend everyone with oil consumption issues reaches out to staff@classaction.org. Audi needs to make this right and they won’t do it until we get some legal actions going.

I somehow missed this thread before purchasing our 2018 Q7 last week with 52k. I was aware of the motor mounts, compressor and thermostat issues, but not this. I did not purchase CPO or an extended warranty (although I can still do the latter), as I thought I knew what I was in for. I have to admit, it scares the hell out of me! Has anyone tracked the prevalence of these problems? We usually drive ~10k miles a year, so I thought we could get 4-5 years out of it before swapping it out.

are you the original owner of the vehicle?
how often has the oil been changed?
how many miles are on the vehicle now?
just saying you have the same issue and think it is "common" isn't really helpful to anyone on here. thanks.

My 2017 with 83540+ miles uses one quart every 800 miles, almost to the mile.
It has been at the dealer for a week, while they try to figure out why. They said to expect they'll have it about three weeks.
For now, I am driving my wife's 2015. I really miss the heads up display, and the ACC and lane control.

My 2017 Q7 3.0, 91K miles has been at the dealership for 3 weeks for same oil consumption issue. Audi corporate finally approved the piston / rings fix. Since the last oil change at 80k have added 12 quarts. Original owner. Dealership is paying for an enterprise rental. SwissInTexas, how’s your car now? Are you happy with the repairs? Will you keep it - long term? Thanks

Thanks. That’s good to hear. We normally like to keep cars longer too, 6- 8 years but with this situation, just need to decide if it’s worth keeping long term after it’s fixed or look at as an opportunity to get out before it really costs me some $$. Tough call because we have really enjoyed this car!

how often was the oil changed on the car during it's lifetime? I change every 5K no matter what.

Guess I was on the continuous oil plan, just keep adding. But seriously, just followed prescribed maintenance schedule & oil changes. With synthetic oil didn’t think it needed to be done more often than every 10k miles. Will rethink that now going forward.
