Continuing to think about outfitting my soon to arrive Q7 and am comparing Yakima vs Thule tow hitch bike racks and rooftop cargo box systems. The guy at REI has me leaning towards a Yakima cargo box and a Thule bike rack.
What do you like? For reference, we have 2 kids and enjoy fishing, camping and skiing. Bike rack would have to haul 3 bikes max.
Also...is the tow hitch 2"?
Thanks~

I went Thule Aerobars with a Thule Flow Box for my roof. Eventually when I pick up a bike rack I'll be going with the new Thule hitch rack but I only have to carry 2 bikes. I try to keep everything uniform so I only need one set of keys though.

I just got the Yakima ridgeback 4 bike rack for my q7. I liked the removable ratchet straps vs the rubber straps on the thule. Try them for yourself to see which you like better.
And yes, the tow hitch is 2".

We also have and need a 4 bike Yakima bike rack for the tow hitch and we have used it a lot on another vehicle and it really works well. I don't remember the model name, but let me know if you are interested and I can send you the information. It's probably very similar from the sounds of it as the one you purchased ( same ratchet straps and rubber straps).

Kuat NV 2.0 for the trailer hitch. It fits 2 or 4 bikes depending on which one you get. Bikes are totally stable and don't touch each other. Best rack you can get.
