It is 2018 and I did have lower mounts replaced as well because they had deteriorated.
These are truely defective springs and should recalled. This Q7 has a 7400lb tow rating - glad I had nothing hitched up when this spring failed.

As I shared prior, mine also broke as did a near by colleague of mine. This is a big issue with 2018 Q7 rear springs. Volkswagen Atlas has a recall for failing coils springs which I suspect is related to the same supplier issue (NHTSA https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/201...8V904-2170.PDF) WHY has Audi not stood up to this issue and provided us owners with a no cost repair.

Not something new. It's been happening for a while on the models that use this design.

Remember, replace them in pairs as one will have metal fatigue and one will not.
Also replace at least both bottom mounts as they are known to fail also.
Is CarMax covering that too?
Even though it may not help please report this failure the NHTSA

I also heard a loud pop back in July. Felt like a golf ball hit my side. Took the dealer recently for a check up and they found both rear springs broken. FFS!

i will report my issue. Is there a good DYI video/instructions for this. Dealer wanted $2600.

And alignment and another $800 to align the adaptive cruise control. What a bunch of crooks.
