Default Buying used, avg warranty cost?

Looking to purchase a used 2017 Q7 Prestige that has 71k miles on it.
Trying to get an idea on extended warranties and cost since I would not be purchasing from a dealer and I have no idea where to start looking to get an idea, even ballpark.

Thanks!

I just bought a '18 Prestige with 31k on it from CarMax and their extended warranty ran me about $2800 to cover me up to 5 years or 100k miles on the odometer, whichever comes first. $300 deductible but can bring in for as many things at once as needed and it is only a single $300 deductible per visit regardless of the number of issues needing repair.

is it at a dealer? If so, ask for the entire Elsa pro records and get back to us with them and we can help you look into it’s service history and see if it has been troublesome or not in its prior life.

How’s the maintenance look on the CARFAX?

As a point of reference, I was quoted $6,400 for a 4 year, 48,000 mile extended warranty on my 2015 A8 4.0T when I purchased it (it had 4 years and 44,000 miles at that time). That was zero deductible, exclusionary (i.e., most coverage) warranty. Would expect it to be a bit cheaper on the Q7 and you could save some money by having a higher deductible.

When you shop for extended warranty, make sure to check 2 things: #1 level of coverage and what it includes/excludes, as there are often different levels and there’s always stuff that’s never covered, and #2 if you can take your car anywhere to get it fixed under warranty or only to certain dealers? With the warranty I mentioned above, I would have had to take the car back to the dealer I bought the car from (a BMW dealer…) for any repair to be covered under warranty, and only if they say they can’t fix it would I be able to take it to Audi. Not sure how standard that is, but found that kind of weird…

I was offered $4860 for 60 months, 60K miles for the Platinum level from Assurance. $250 deductible

Any idea if that is a good deal?

I paid 2,900 for 10yr/100k Platinum with Fidelity when I bought my 2018 Q7 new (so 6 years and 50k in addition to manufacturer warranty) but these extended warranties are always cheaper when you buy them when the car is still new. So I’d say yours sounds about right assuming you didn’t buy it when new
