Default Cell Phone Contacts

Just trying to get clarification, and appreciate the assembled expertise on these forums. In the Q7, it seems that the contacts on your cell phone(s) are imported via Bluetooth to the local memory under the phone directory, and disappear when the phone is disconnected. The "download" function under phone settings appears to only download contacts from your phone into this volatile memory, which is then gone when the phone is gone. Is this correct, or are the contacts physically stored somewhere on the HD of the car? Thanks in advance!

Yes, I believe that the contacts only appear when connected. Haven't noticed the process in the Q (I only drive it on weekends), but in my daily driver where I often need to place calls as soon as I get in my car, the contacts take a minute or two to appear as they are loading. I imagine most cars are similar.

Thanks BK! Interestingly, it looks like it doesn't matter if the contacts are actually stored on your phone or in the respective "cloud" of the wireless service provider (my preference); they show up just as quickly. The contacts download over Bluetooth seems to be the most reliable part of Audi Connect, which so far hasn't impressed me with its stability.

I thought the "download" was supposed to save onto the NAV HDD? I cannot remember trying though....
