Default Dealer advertising sold car

Just saw that my dealer advertises my ordered Q7 in inventory as "available soon". Is this normal practice for a dealer?

It has to do with their inventory system. It automatically shows up. I actually pinged my dealer anonymously and asked about my car and they told me it was already sold...

Yup, that's normal. I actually mentioned that to my dealer the day I picked mine up and he stated he got contacted several times by other potential buyers.

He also said that they don't have an option to take ordered and sold vehicles off the inventory list any sooner to prevent that from happening..

Thats funny when my car came it was a couple weeks till I was able to get it and my salesguy said alot of people wanted to buy my Q...even willing to pay above MSRP. He said he had to hide the keys. Even when I went to get it someone was trying to buy it. They totally missed the congrats sign lol.

Yep the BOP will do that to people. It makes our cars much more desireable when people see it on the showroom floor and know they can't get them for a few months.

I've seen some dealerships start using this. I think this should be protocol since it would minimize confusion with potential buyers.

Even a "pending sale" on the description would suffice

Question I have is at what point does it hit their system as "available soon". SYMAWD stated as soon as the car was built, but I wouldn't really consider that "soon" if its still 4-6 weeks away. Maybe it is once it hits the port?

When the 2.0 was released, none of the dealers in my area had 2.0's as "available soon". They all just showed up in inventory one day. Maybe because it was a new model.

Mine showed up on my dealers website when I got the 3rd email saying it was at European port, which was at least 3 week before I got the vehicle.
