Default Disabling Auto-Start/Stop when in Park

Auto start/stop will shutoff off the engine when the car is put in park. The problem I have with this is that, on a few occasions, my wife has forgotten to turn off the car because the engine wasn't running. So she leaves the car thinking it's off, but it's actually still on. And so, she returns to the car later to find that it is running because the engine restarted after she left, which is concerning.

I would like to avoid this problem in the future. I understand that human error is a factor here, but we as only put the vehicle in park when we are ready to exit/shut it off, so I don't see any benefit to this behavior.

I want to avoid any custom/3rd party coding options, and was curious if anyone has had luck with their dealer making a configuration change like this?

My car (2018 Q7) turns itself off completely when I leave for any length of time with the key. Sort of aggravating actually when I get out to get the mail, but I understand the concept.

I get a notification (2017 Q7) that the “ignition turns off automatically” when in park. Is she leaving the key in the car? I could see why it would restart if that were the case.

Also, this was partly covered in a similar thread:

The key must still be in the vehicle when she comes back to it running, correct? If so, have her take the key with her (out of the car) maybe?

When she removes her seatbelt, auto stop/start should disable and the car should just go into accessory mode. Locking the vehicle will then shut everything off.
