Engine air filter replacement hard
Hard time pulling out the engine air filter on my 2018 Q7. Have removed the engine cover and the retaining screw in the filter housing. Won't budge by trying to pull out and up. Any suggestions? I see another tread with member unable to pull the filter despite pictures. Thanks.

Try standing on the driver side of the engine while facing the air filter. Now, grasp the air filter and pull it toward you with some force. Once you feel the filter slipping out, slowly lift it toward the sky.

I pulled with my full strength as I rocked the filter. It finally slipped free. The hang up is on the four filter-pan slide grips that secure the filter. The filter must slide out of the grips before you can lift it up. I lubed them lightly and was able to move the filter in and out easily. Thanks for encouraging me to be persistent and aggressive.

For anyone who is interested, I replaced the engine air filter with an aftermarket Mahle LX 3233/6 which is the exact same Audi branded OEM filter.

Sweet! I'm glad that I was able to help. Thank you for the aftermarket air filter info, now I don't have to buy from the stealership!! Do you know if there is an aftermarket oil filter too?

By the way, here is the aftermarket OEM air filter I bought from them. They just dropped the price (about $7) after I bought it last week.

Don’t mean to hijack the thread, but are you folks using an extractor to change the oil or going from underneath and removing all the screws from the skid plate?
