I have a '04 A6 2.7t and agree that the turbo lag is terrible. But that car is 13 years old. My '13 A8 4.0t has almost no lag whatsoever. Engine technology has changed a lot in the last few years. If you truly want lot's of power and no lag get a Tesla.

The turbo lag in my '01 A6 2.7T was always there. Luckily I had the 6 speed manual which allowed me to keep the revs up. I just sold it after getting my Q7 and it was still fun drive.
I'll reserve judgement on the new twin turbo until I can test drive one.

Audi has a long history with turbos and with the reversed plumbing style first used in the C7 S6, they have tried to reduce turbo lag, but you are always going to have some lag with a turbo. The supercharged engines come up faster, but they use a belt or gears to spin up the PSI. I'm sure Audi will change over to the turbo for the Q7 in the next year or so for the sake of better gas mileage (and the EPA). Enjoy the supercharger while you have it.
