Default Front License Plate Screws

Bought my '17 Q7 out of state and now I need to add a front plate on it. I picked up a universal frame that lines up with the OEM holes in the front grill but I'm concerned that the screws that came with the frame are too large. Any idea on the size (diameter) and length of the screws meant for the OEM holes in the grill?

Pretty sure they are same as back, take out one of those and get 4 more like it. I just put plate on front without a frame, looks fine.

14mm long x 6mm wide thread, get the biggest pan head top you can find.

How did you screw the plate on without a frame? The holes in the grill don't match up with holes for a standard license plate.

Mine came with a front black license plate box on the front grill, thought you meant the frame that dealers put around the plate that has their name on it. Sorry, may have answered wrong question.

Correct. My grill doesn't have the plate mounting bracket on it - Audi charges $120 for it. To avoid the unnecessary expense, I found a universal mounting frame online ($10) with holes that line up with the OEM holes in the grill. I just want to make sure that I use the correct size screw to mount the frame. \
Too long = potentially damage something behind the grill
Too short = potentially not have enough "grab" to hold the plate on
Threads too wide = potentially damage the mounting holes, which already look very fragile

Buy a $70k car... doesnt want to pay $120 for the correct bracket/frame.

Frugality is the reason I can afford a $70k vehicle.

Why spend an extra $110 for a license plate holder or iPhone cables.

If it works correctly why spend the extra cash? Makes perfect sense to me.
