Since some still don't report what year and model they have, I'm going to hazard a guess. Only the MIB2 MY2017 Q7 MKII (and maybe the 2017 A4) so far will have front sensors that automatically activate when moving forward. Other year models that have the front parking sensors will only activate automatically if the car is placed in reverse. Otherwise, the dash button must be pressed manually. Perhaps if more posters would include their model and year in their sig, this could be confirmed.

Thanks for the info everyone! Okay, I think we are coming to the conclusion that updating the software version to 0692 is going to enable this feature for those of us that do not yet have it working. I assume this is something the dealer will automaticlally do at a service interval, if not I will ask them to do it.

From the MMI hidden menu. While the engine is running, push up the NAV/MAP button while pressing down the Media button - the after 5-10 seconds the red engineering menu will appear...
But you can also find the software info by following MMI Settings/left button/System Maintenance/Version Information.....

I really don't like having to push buttons to get the sensors to warn me if I'm getting too close to the huge, car hungry pole in my garage.
On my '13 Q7 they were automatically on when I first pulled in & started beeping when I got close. I miss that
