Default Lack of bending headlights (USA). Really?

I assumed that Q7s with vision package are equipped with bending headlights. However, to my surprise, while driving my recently purchased 2017 Q7 (May 2017 build, premium plus loaded with vision package and driver assistance package, etc.) last night, I realized that it does not have bending headlights!! Even my previous vehicle, 2018 Tiguan SEL Premium, had nicely working bending LED headlights. This is really unpleasant surprise to me. I found bending light very useful for driving rural roads.

Do later model years (2018, 2019) have bending headlights?

p.s. Why do US traffic safety regulations lag far behind the rest of the world, those of EU, South Korea, Japan, and China? (for instance, matrix lights) They are absurdly conservative, in my opinion.

I believe the same type of lights are on the Q7:

Nope. My 2020 Prestige with the neutered Laser lights doesn't do much of anything fancy as far as the H/L are concerned. Perhaps having that option is why I have sequential turn signals, but that's hardly worth $1,600. Audi should not be charging that kind of price for lights that are so dummied-down for the US market.

My 20 matrix headlights with illuminate to the side you are turning to. This is at lower speeds, is that what you mean by bending lights? It’s not the headlight moving, but an additional light that comes on (it seems)

Hi, thanks for your inputs. That's corner illumination, not bending lights. 17 Vision Package has corner illumination feature too.

Neutered... exactly. I like the expression.

Cornering lights are the same lights used for rain/fog/snow-driving. Switch them on at any speed you wish and certainly, unlike cornering lights, both sides will be on. Helps quite a bit, especially on undivided HWY with single lane driving in each direction. They switch off when headlights are @ high beams.
