New 21" Tires @ 10k ?
I have a 2017 q7 with 21" summer tires. My car is in the shop for the 1 year/10k scheduled service. I have noticed some tire/wheel noise from the front drivers side, which I brought up with my technician.
I am told that the outside edge of the front wheels, particularly the drivers side, has almost no tread left, and so I need to replace all 4 tires, since tread differences between any tire cannot be more than 3/32".
The technician confirmed alignment is near perfect.
He he did tell me that he has 3 other q7'S with 21" tires had to replace their tires as well around this mark
I was told this was a problem with the old q7 also.
And of course there are no all season's available in this size.
Is is anyone else experiencing this ?
i don't drive off road or on twisty roads. I live in N Calif where the roads are pretty good.
I hope I don't have to spend ~ $1500 a year on tires (21" Conti)

I think there is a thread about tire rotations and how there is excessive wear on the outside of the tires. Seems like the fix is to rotate the tire every 4-5k miles.
As far as options for all seasons in the 21" i would look into getting a 295/40/21. I wlll be going that route when next winter arrives and I want to take my trips up to Tahoe.

I have the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 on my Q7 and they only have a treadware rating of 240. That is almost half of the Continental ContiSportContact 5 SUV rating of 420.
On my A7 I have Pirelli P Zero tires which has a 220 rating and I expect to replace them around 20,000 miles. So there is something wrong. Could you have a tire that isn't true or balanced properly?

Update: I got new 21 Conti's. The dealer referred my request for the alternate tire to Audi, and they couldn't confirm the alternate tire with greater width would have adequate clearance with the wheel fully turned.
My my dealer did agree to complimentary tire rotations every 5k miles
I think this is a clear flaw with the 21" wheels.
Thanks everyone for your advise and input.

I got 20,000 miles out of the Goodyear's and I am going to get 20,000 miles out of the Conti's according to my service guy yesterday after checking them at 10,000 miles. So in my experience, both of those tires will last the same amount of time.

The dealer only agreed to rotate for free every 5k miles
They weren't sure if the DWS would cause any problems in full steering turns.
Very disappointing.
