Just 2 weeks to go before i get my ride. I have been wondering.... what is the proper recognized break in method for a new car? Drive it slowly for the first 1000km ?

It is best to consult your Q7's Owner Manual for the proper break=in procedure. Typically, you don't rev the engine more than 2/3rds of the allowed rev range. So, it is not just really driving slowly. Also, do not maintain a constant rev for extended periods of time. Vary the engine revs once in a while while driving along a highway.
If you want to start reading your Q7's Owners Manual, you can do so here: Audi Online Owner's Manual
You need your vehicle's VIN# to do so. If you don't have it, just search the internet for a US 2016 or 2017 Q7 VIN#. Just use that temporarily.

I also recommend not holding a single rpm for long periods but I also am a proponent of using a low engine load. I never floored my A6 3.0 until it had its first 5k service.
I have never added oil in the 47k of ownership.
You don't want your car getting "sick" like others have on this forum.😉

From the online manual p79:
Breaking in
A new vehicle must be broken in, and the break-in distance should be 1,000 miles (1,500 km). Do not drive at speeds that will exceed 2/3 of the maximum permitted engine speed (RPM) for the first 600 miles (1,000 km), and avoid full accel-eration during this period. You may gradually start increasing the RPM and the speed between 600 miles (1,000 km) and 1,000 miles (1,500 km).
During the first hours of use, the engine has a higher internal friction than later on when all moving parts have settled into place with each other.
How the vehicle is driven during the first 1,000 miles (1,500 km) also affects the engine quality. Drive at moderate engine speeds after the initial break-in period, particularly when running a cold engine. This will reduce engine wear and improve the mileage. Do not drive at too low of an engine speed (RPM). Shift down when the engine no longer runs "smoothly". Extremely high engine speeds are automatically reduced.
I hate this period. It was 2000 km in the BMWs, and the i8 was limited to 160kmh so I drove it max 159 kmh with an average speed of, if I remember correctly, around 140km/h on unrestricted Autobahns, pure hell!
People do all kinds of routines and say that they are better than the original one, I even read somewhere to redline it or drive normally. I would be very careful about that kind of behavior, because I am pretty sure somekind of telemetry is left in the car and if problems arise ,Audi might hide behind it, so I break them in as the manual says, always!
