Default Q7 Steering wheel lose, is dealer responsible?

Hi, I just bought a 2009 Q7 from a dealer in Sarasota, AS-IS, no warranty on it. On my way home, on a highway, I noticed that the steering wheel was loose. Not a big deal, I was expecting to spend some money on it. But the day after on a curve it started going right and left, I thought it was a safety issue and I called my local AUDI dealer right away to schedule an inspection. Today I went to the appointment (car was bought 5 days ago) and (1* only for the Audi of South Orlando, sorry but nice people with a bad service, but this is another issue) they quote me $3300 to fix the steering rack and change the rod wheels, mentioning that it is a safety issue and I should involve my attorney with the dealer that I bought the car from. Now, by law, is it something that they should have told me? My exciting ride around the dealer on a rainy day didn't show me that there was a problem that big. Are they somehow responsible?

Wrong forum, this one is for new 2016/17 Q7's depending on country.

Try this one.
