Remote Start? Use existing remote or new viper remote?

So, I get a call from my installer who’s putting in viper 4105v remote start system and he tells me he has to use my factory remote and install it underneath the dash. So, I’m going to lose a remote. They promised me I wouldn’t lose remote so I got a refund and I’m back to square 1! Anyone have remote start and didn’t lose you factory remote? Thanks
