I was wondering if someone could help me understand a cruise control feature.
Sometimes when I activate the cruise control, it acts exactly as I'd expect, push SET and it holds that speed until we come up to a slower car.
Other times, I hit set and the set point will move up or down based on the last speed limit sign we've passed, which is great for a highway that cuts through a small town.
But my issue is I don't know what I'm doing to activate the mode with the speed limit signs, it seems like it just comes on and works when it wants, and other times it doesn't.
I've looked in the book and online, and I just can't find the documentation on it. Would someone be able to point me in the right direction?
You are not doing anything differently. The feature is called Predictive control, and if it's turned on in the settings, then it will adapt the speed of adaptive cruise control based on several factors. One of them is the detected speed limit.

feature is so annoying. goes wonky at all the high speed toll booths as well. this is one of the first things I turned off when I started using adaptive cruise control...
