No reason to to that, you only tapped into 12V dc. I've done the same on my cars and was never a concern when bringing in for warrantee service.

I used one on my last Infiniti, and then when I got my Q7, bought a new one for it. Its there pretty much for good unless I unclip it.

I used the MirrorTap wiring harness and the standard suction mount on all my cars as I don't like how the BlendMount hangs down so low. I prefer to keep my radar detectors (Valentine One) up high where they aren't noticeable.

If you have the correct mirrortap, you won't need to modify the cable like in this post though.
