Default Winter Tires advice for Q7 2017

Hi Everyone,

I got Fully loaded Q7 2017 Teknik
with 20'' Tired Run Flat.

I was very disappointed to see that the car is not stable on the snow as I thought its AWD and I expected a better performance
Maybe its the tired?
also this year we got a crazy winter here in Toronto.

Im looking to get the following tires

Michelin Latitude X-Ice XI2 Winter Radial Tire - 255/55R19/XL 111H

Just want to know if its gonna be compotable and I understand that I have to purchase 19 rims? any suggestions for the rims as well?

Thank You Everyone!

Those tire sizes will fit. Since your in Toronto I’d recommend getting some nokian hakkapeliita tires. I’ve heard those are amazing from people who live in Canada. I’m personally running Bridgestone blizzaks DVM2 because it was easier than trying to find a dealer in the US that is close to me that sells nokian.

it really depends where you drive around in toronto, if you are in the downtown core mainly or roads which are usually well plowed i would say the xice should be a decent choice. If you are up north where roads aren't plowed as often and snow accumlates and packs up then the nokian are worth the money. I ended up getting pirelli scorpion winter for mine as it was hard to find nokian at 20 inch size (have not put it on yet as car just arrived). When I had my Q5, I used Toyo GSI-5 which were superb tires all around (not loud and performs well). Also I used to have nokians on another car (smaller car) and they are loud but are superb in deep snow.

I got the Blizzak DM-V1 (255/55R19) for my Prestige for the Utah mountain winter. I think the Blizzak DM-V1 tires are slightly more aggressive of a snow tire compared to the X-Ice, though they are both very good non-studded tires. I had the Blizzak tires on my previous 2012 Q7 TDI and couldn't believe how well they held up and lasted - actually better than the A/S tires. There will be a night and day difference in snow handling/performance with those tires compared to A/S tires.
My tire shop got the Niche Targa M130 wheels for my winter setup. Seems to be a pretty nice rim without breaking the bank, and designed to use the OEM bolts. http://www.nicheroadwheels.com/targa-m130-w-5335.htm
