Default Clutch arrrrr

Im gonna be needing a new clutch soon. Its starting to get hard to put it into gear, and you gotta push the clutch all the way to the floor to do so (which is hard enough).

I went to a local shop to get an estimate... it was $420 for the kit and $350 labor.

Thats not cool.

Could anyone source me a cheap clutch kit? And is it really that hard to replace a clutch on an awd motor?

Default tell you what, its freakin easy when you pull the motor

i cant imagine it being that bad. just some driveshafts and the exhaust and whatever turbo things happen with your turbo motors.. might be easiest to just drop the whole tranny and have lots of room.
my friend just bought a clutch kit for his 4000 for 90 bucks or something. if no one here knows, ask the 4000 board, they know where to get em cheap

Default try Tom at Carolina Clutches.....

I got my kit from him for $260 incuding shipping.
Try to call him and tell him who you are and that you got the info here. It might help with the price.

http://www.carolinaclutch.com</a

Default Re: Clutch arrrrr

Are you shure is a clutch ??? From what you describing looks to me like a clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder. Clutch has NOTHING to
do with how easy gers are engaged. Do like this:
pump quite fast few times clutch pedal and than
try to engage gear. If this make easier to engage in gear you have a bad master or slave cylinder. And I bet you this is your problem. If this will help I let you know
how diagnose which cylinder is bad. Check also fluid level in brake reserv.
Good luck.

Default Welcome to the clutch club :)

Im RR'ing the clutch on my 4kq here in a week or so. I "plan" on having the car down for 2 weeks at the max, lets hope it holds true to that. How hard is it? Who knows, it just takes time.
I got my clutch kit on ebay, Carolina Clutches was selling a ton of them, got mine for around 60 bucks shipped!

Good Luck..

Mike
