Do you want a road version or one set up for racing?
I have no idea who these guys are, just came across it looking through Hemmings for restoration tips.<ul><li><a href="http://www.autocollections.com/index.cfm?key=1157&amp;action=details&amp;tab=inve ntory">Hemmings Advertisement</a></li></ul>

I wonder, that if with the right driver, the old Sports could still beat the new WRC cars?

Default I dunno...technology has come a long way.....

the S1 had tons of power, but all at top end. Plus, with the braking and suspension tecnology out there, it's a tough call. I, for one, would like to see a shoot out though!

Default Not to mention the sporty wasn't all that dominant with contemporary challengers

The competition had caught up to the AWD revolution, and mid-engined, space-frame Lancias and Peugeots were proving more than a match for the nose-heavy beast.

The sporty definitely has a power advantage, but, depending on the venue, its compromised handling is a big handicap.

Default meh

the S1 got pretty damn close to 50-50.
IMO Throw in some electronic active differentials and a full SMG transmission and I bet it would beat the modern WRC cars EASILY. With 600 hps and 900 kgs it'll have almost a 200% power to weight advantage.

Most modern rally suspensions are still Mcpherson strut at heart.
