Yeah, but where will you find replacement parts when they go bad?

Default This is a good point.

For me, it's less a question of finding the parts as troubleshooting failures. It's an urq so it's gonna break down. Having built it myself, and hence knowing it intimately, is my only defense against being stranded.

Still, 8 months and 7 breakdowns (3 limps home, 2 roadside repairs and 2 tows). Just teething pains I hope...

Default Hopefully, the AAN won't be as cantankerous... :-)

Any words of wisdom for my Stoptech install, Rich?

Default Actually, one...

There have been a couple of failures of the brake lines around here. One was entering turn 4 at PIR with a head of steam, scared the guy pretty bad.

The issue has been with the banjo joint to the caliper. Do you make it point down and loop underneath to the body or point up and wrap upwards to the body? With the former the risk seems to be when the suspension is compressed and that wheel is turned in, the line comes awfully close to the wheel/tire. If they contact the line will get cut. With the latter, the danger is when the suspension is extended and the wheel turned out, the line can get stretched and crimp itself at the bend. In both cases, the line could eventually burst and leave you with no brakes.

So follow the StopTech instructions carefully and try to make allowances for any body-side mouting position difference on the urq. It's not perfectly clear how it's to be done and I won't tell you because I don't really know. Just be aware.

Ok, enough doom and gloom. Once you get them installed, ENJOY!!!

Default He didn't wreck the white one.

At the hillclimb? Someone wrecked it for him.

Then there was the green one, he did that. And what was the third one?

Default I don't think we're talking about the same person...

anymore unless we're talking about the original owner of my car who also has a few RUF Porsches and had 4 SQs as well.
