Default Re: Clarification from both.

To answer everyones questions; I needed decals for several of my cars especially the stripe kits. I was finally able to find and buy an original kit; but had such a difficult time in doing so that I looked into copying it as I need more than one for myself. There were stripe sizes available that were close but not exactly the same measurement. Additionally, the front and rear pieces have a slight curve to them and some of the ends are closed. So, what I am offering is the exact stripe kit that came with the original car. Like the rings; it consists of three pieces of material. The first layer that protects the glue; the stripes themselves; and the top opaque layer to sqweegy it in place. The original came in four seperate boxes and this will come in one roll where you will have to cut the individuals pieces out before application. (It was going to cost another $30 per set to have them cut out at the manufacturer.) As for the rings; it was a discussion here a couple weeks ago that again peeked my interest in the rings. I have original silver rings which are still readily available for about $50-60 each from the dealers. And, as everyone knows; the black are not. I was finally able to locate a couple of original factory black ones and when I took them to see if they could be duplicated; they told me that they were originally screen-printed and that to make them as close to original I would have to screen-print them rather than photograph them. They indicated that from 5 feet away you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I felt the extra cost was worth it and so I am having them made up. I am having one of the stripe kits installed on Monday on a car and there are enough guys around here that can take a look at it and let you know what they think.
I have seen Michael's and they are very good. I am just offering an alternative which should be good for everyone.

On another note; I pursued having Audi get the original windshield remanufactured in the early part of the summer. Audi Historics finally agreed to do so under the following terms $260 per windshield with a minimum order of 100 shipped to one location, prepaid. At the time there were 50 mouldings left but they weren't DOT approved at $200 each. I was just getting ready to announce it when PPG introduced a windshield for the coupe so I didn't think I could generate enough interest to make it worthwhile.

Default Blaufergnugen used to have them....

They would include one with every purchase over $50 or so. Not sure if they still have them now.

Default how about 'quattro' to put along where the rings would go on the lower front door?

thinking of this for my 4000

Was thinking either white or silver. White would really POP against the car, but might want to be a little more subtle.

Know how much it'd cost?

Default Re: Clarification from both.

Some help please. In the original stripe kit for the front of the URQ (4 sets total; one for each side and one for front and rear of car) in addition to the two sets of stripes that span the entire face of the car; there are two stripes that are 1.25" by 12" long and slightly curved and 4 end pieces that obviously go around some corner. Anyone ever see these on a car. Maybe european bumper? ETKA is no help. TIA Peter
