Trunk Lid Weight!

Just replaced my trunk struts .... are these trunk lids made of lead or what? Holy cow those things are heavy. Just venting ...

I'd love a fiberglass one - made from 86 up, but not here.

Actually, you would be surprised at how much of that weight is the spoiler.

I really don't think that the steel lid is all that much lighter than the fiberglass lid.

It's got to be 50 lbs.

It's crazy. Seems like a nice carbon fiber lid/spoiler unit would be the ticket. The stock plastic (FRP) trunk lid/wing on my M3 is larger but weighs next to nothing.

the spoiler isn't very heavy, at least on the GT. The lid is though.

I've got one seperated....
