Gents:
I have a contact in the auto industry with whom I hope to have a lunch and bend his ear. The way I see it there are a few hundred million dollars in assets that will be lying fallow during the auto sector 'troubles'. Wouldn't it be great if they could do some limited production runs on NLA parts? To have an effective meeting I need to have a fairly complete list of parts. Obviously the Ur-Quattro has a large hole in the OEM parts supply so anyone with a comprehensive list is welcome to post them so I can include them in my proposal. Feel free to include as many parts for other brands and makes as you know.

A similar venture by some friends in the early Porsche 911 world (pre-74) is working out quite well. The product quality is outstanding and they've been able to bring several products to market quickly (less than a year). These are being done in very small runs.
As a side note, one of the partners visited the factory a few months back and saw parts being made for Porsche AG at the same facility

The company I plan to speak with is a global corporation that is being hit hard. I hope to make a good case for the parts.
IIRC 11,000 Ur-Quattros were built in total. Assuming that at least half have found their way to the scrappers that still leaves 5000 cars needing running bits. How many of those parts are also used in 4kq and coupe cars?

and that is that a 911 guy will not blink twice spending $1000 on his car, because it's worth it.
Most of quattro guys buy their cars on budget and want the same part for $9.99 and free shipping..
Otherwise they'll just fix it with a shoestring and bubble gum.
Just an observation I made over the last 15 years of being around quattro community.
There is a great example of it on the quattro forum. The price was actually lower than what the dealer was charging when the item was available.
So.. you can remake the stuff no problem.. it's finding guys to actually buy it afterwards, that's the trick.

http://www.quattroforum.com/forum/nla-watch/9985-left-rear-diff-seal.html</a

Common to cgt/4k?
Essential running gear parts
Early ball joints - no
Early rear tie rods - no
Early sway bar bushings (front/rear) - front yes? rear no
Non essential nice to have
Sunvisor clips - yes, cgt
Early shift ***** - yes
Window seals (wiper on the outside plus clips) - yes, cgt
Shifter bushings - yes
Early speedo cables - yes
Front headlight bezels - yes
Bumper plugs - no
As far as the speedo cable goes, as long as the sheath and the ends that attach to the trans and speedo are good, the inner cable itself can be replaced with a universal speedo cable repair kit from your FLAPS. I paid $5.99 to fix my broken speedo cable.

dealers are bashed as being stealers, when they have the parts = "I'm not paying that much", "you can do this instead", etc......innovation is cool, no doubt but when topic of what the car is worth comes up, many are quick to point out $10-15-20k for just a decent to good car...
Just my observation and $.02.
