Default Good point.

It's true. But as the value of the urq's goes up, there will be more and more willing to pay. That's probably a ways off yet. The early 911's were +35 years old before everything sky-rocketed.

Of course with the economy today ... it's anybody's guess what will happen with collector car values in the near future.

Default Case in point CIS metering arm circlip

Barely a dollar via Porsche parts Dept...

Stand across the counter at 99% of the Audi parts counters and after they get done trying to convince you that YOU are the idiot because your car doesn't exist - they charge you something like $38 for it...

Don't act like the Audi dealers are the victims here !

If we treated our cars like they were worth more - they'd BE worth more.

Default No Urq here...

But I was and always will be willing to shell out more for OEM parts goodness, mainly because I love having OEM parts on the car.

That being said IF I ever do own a Urq I hope that the OEM parts I need will be available for it

Default With diff seals and balljoints NLA - it's no wonder a urq won't spend repair $$ like a 911 fellow.

Catch 22. If some of these basic parts were available then folks would be more comfortable spending, for example, $675 on new urq fender (assuming that the fender was available, and that Audi didn't intend to price it at $1200).
This might be a bad example because I heard Audi did make a new batch of fenders but the quality was very poor.

Default Diff seals?

Not to stir the pot, but has anybody contacted a company that supplies industries with seals and bearings? I got the following from Vagcat for an '83 Quattro:
RHS oil seal: 45X60X8
LHS oil seal: 16X24X6
Prop Shaft: 25x4N
I'm not sure about the shaft seal dimension, but regarding the others, according to BOSS (Bearing and Oil Seal Specialists) in Hamilton, ON, from listings of "stock seals":
45x60x_7_ oil seal is $4.84
16x24x6 _single lip_ oil seal is $2.36
Cheers!

I have my quattro in at the shop right now having my 2bennet coilovers installed. i went to have a look at it today, all 4 corners are apart and the tech informed me that my rear suspension rubber is in need or replacement.

I need ball joints, tie rod ends, plus other easier to find stuff.

What do you guys do when yours need replacement if they are not available.

i recently went through this. i found tie rods from a canadian company, sorry i cant remember the name. but i believe the guys at quattro corner have some available. as for ball joints just search for "ball joint" in the forum and you can see the different options. i personally bought the newer style control arms, drilled out my strut towers to 19mm and used ball joints from a 90q. after doing this i had to also get the newer style sway bars, but they can be found on 4kq and cgt. after i did all this some company made the 18mm ball joints. i think it was 034 motorsport. little pricey though. good luck

I still have a set of brand new early tie rods (034 has the later vintage units) and brand new rear tie rod assemblies.
Quattro corner was out of business last time I was on the UK quattro forum few weeks back.

Hope this helps.
