Default UPDATE . . . . URQ

Whew!! after two days of working on the sport quattro hood i now know why i never see one that fits right!! this is what i have to show after all this work:
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/64572/img_6716.jpg">
i used a "little" body filler.

if i had the choice i would never do this again, BUT . . . . i am considering making a carbon fiber replica of this hood for the "stock" URQ,
i just wanted to know if anyone would be interested in a replica hood please let me know.

ps. i wonder why the dash is out??? <img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/64572/img_6738.jpg">

it all depends on material that i use i am considering using either a 3k carbon weave or a 6k, i will tell you what i decide, really quickly:
A "3k" carbon fiber has 3,000 filaments in it; a "6k" carbon fiber has 6,000 filaments in it, Each filament adds more strength and also weight.
i have to calculate how many people are interested so far i see two maybe three people are if i get ten people interested then i will go ahead and find out final production costs and will notify the board and take orders.

very possible, but i must tell you there is no way that you can bond carbon fiber and steel together, in just 1-2 changes of weather by 20 degrees will cause the pieces to crack.

a lot of pain . . . a LOT OF PAIN.

first measured the whole piece out
made a cardboard template
marked off where i would make the cuts
put the hood under the knife
bonded the pieces together with chopped glass strands
layered the pieces with kevlar and fiberglass
body filler
body filler
and, oh yeah . . . . . body filler
cursed
sanded
cursed
body filler
cursed
sanded
stood back and decided to make the piece out of carbon fiber
smiled

Default I'd be interested to find out what they'd cost too.

I'd love one for my CGT turbo, keep us posted if it's going happen.
