Default I think "wallstreetauto"is a fake pushing up the price. Since the last thing bought was a $3 pen

& before the pen was an Audi by riversideaudi. So perhaps it's a 2nd acct rver side uses.

http://feedback.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=wallstreetau to</a

Default Very well could be, but the item bought just before that was an RS6.

Just so happens that car was sold by the same place selling the quattro. Hmmmm, something does smell fishy in Denmark...

Default Partly - just that urqs sell for more in the North East.

Great (rust free) urqs always seem available for bargain change in California. Actually this blue urq was for sale IN CA and it couln't fetch $9975 there. I just think most CA urqs would bring an extra 1 or 2K in the NY, MA rust belt.

Default urqs as an investment??

maybe, and that's okay if that's how you see it.

really though, do we own and maintain these wonderful amd yet sometimes cantankerous works of engineering soul and rich history for investment purposes or is it simply because we like to strap these machines to our backs and drive them?

i suspect the latter.

i confess that it would be nice to know that values have increased but, I wouldn't lose any sleep if the value declines.

Default Would they take 20K? Plus the 4000/CGT was bashing KAR

Back around Sept 1 on the 4000 forum there were a few folks questioning their integrety.

Steven, I would look into the 85 in Mass before that one in Minn.

Default Re: Well, maybe collectors are finally recognizing the cars.

I'm surprised that car didn't sell for 13K. Low effort attempt, IMHO, if it didn't folks I know radars. Had I known I would have bought it for what KAR did. Easy to drive 5K a year (if I had the time) and not lose an money for 5 years at least. Easy enough to light mod for enjoyment and revert on any weekend. As Sports Car MArket would say very well bought if your surmised price is right.

Default It was widely talked about on the lists on audifans. Here too I believe.

Personally, I think that car should be left alone as a time capsule car. There probably isn't another one like it anywhere. Driving it would be a shame IMO. There are plenty of nice driver cars out there. If there is any US ur q out there that will be worth top dollar as a collector car, that is it.

You can mod or restore a car as often as you like, but it will only be original once.

Default I have no idea about them, but most urquattro listings are one crappy picture

on a text list populated with people who already own urquattros. A car properly listed on Ebay with good pictures and a history of the car can do quite well.

Its clear that performance modifications are not worth anything. A well maintained original street car will fetch just as much as a modified car, and of course that is puzzling to us since some modifications to these cars if for the better. A good example is my 83.5 urquattro. I plan on putting euro-bumpers and other cosmetic dress-ups. I doubt many of these things will play heavily into the value of the car over more prominent issues like no-rust, mileage, maintenance records, cleanliness and running condition.
