Default IIRC it was held on by clips, but they have a 10v head.

Yours is a 20v so that should explain the difference. Have you tried contacting Bosch?

I'll try to remember to send you a pic of the VIN when I get home.

Default Emre, check again.

Try a magnet on the outside. I thought mine were kevlar for the longest time. Even with the metal skin and a stripped interior they weight nothing and sound hollow. Shokan's doors do have the mirror mounted up high and not on the door, but it still has the Bruno triangle vent window which is a good indication that its a metal skin.

Default Re: Gotcha. The Sprongls got the 20V car. That is the "Mouton car."

From what I know this car started as A1 car which later on was converted "Bruno" style to A2 spects
car. Right now is not A1 and is not A2. Years ago I was thinking about buying this car. After doing my snooping around I drop this idea.I found out that this car was driven once by Stig not Michele. I could be wrong with this. All factory A1 and A2 are listed in Kimberley's book. I think Jugen Lewandowski in his quattro book has some list to. Base on this looks like there is no original A1 or A2 in US."Home" made perhaps yes.

Default I'm doing CF for the door skins, and retaining the metal, also.

I'll keep the extra hood as a spare, and I may run it from time to time on sunny days at the track.. I'll have it painted in the same batch so the paint will match, and I'll screen it as well.

I'd ideally like to retro-fit it will some kind of air inlet at the front(a la SQ hoods), so the flow would displace the hot air gassing out.

I'll be looking into the VAG mirror option.

Cheers,

Default The VIN number indicates this is number 6, of 8, A2's made at the factory.

it's ECU even read "Acropolis" for the last (?) rallye it attended while under AudiSport direction in Group B.

ECU means nothing.Take VIN, contact Audi in Ingolstadt and if they confirm in writing that this is original FACTORY BUILD ( not by Bruno, not by John Sutton in UK) A2 than it is. It is just simple like this.

Default Who would want to do that?

Then Audi comes and takes the car back.

Default Emre does it have a North American VIN or a IN-NL-##?

A2 was a specification, so I personally think there are North American A2s built. Most rally books I have say "Sutton Built A2" etc. So this would be a Bruno built A2 spec.

Whats even better is that Bruno and the other "lesser" series ran A2s longer so most actual working rally cars were updated and improved vis a vis 20V motors, S1 shifters, S1 suspension, etc.

Ahem.. Hanlon's A2 in the UK is not 100% A2 spec for this reason. I know he runs an S1 shifter and I think he's upgraded to S1 suspension as well. But those little things really don't matter do they? I certainly don't get all worked up about it.
