Default Agreed, but just because there are cases which can't be fixed doesn't mean we should add MORE of

them to the road.

Yes, my concern is visibility to events otherwise blocked by the vehicle in front of me - and I agree that stopping distance is important, but there are many cases in which visibility has made me able to slow/stop without fuss vs just being ABLE to stop in time.

Seeing through the car ahead and to my right to spot the idiot pulling from the right hand cross-street into my middle lane (vs the far right one) is yet another case.

Exactly, or I simply change my position for better visibility.

Default It's really more THROUGH than INTO.

I'm not a cop, so I don't care what you're doing in the car - I want to see what the people around you are doing WITH their cars

Default I don't know - I dont' see the problem. I've never had any issues with driving due to not being...

able to see through another vehicle. I have the range of vehicles - the "smaller than most vehicles on the road", the "'bout the same size as other vehicles on the road" and the "much larger than other vehicles on the road" and I just have never run into a situation where I cursed tinted windows.

In any case, driving defensively is really the only way to be safe out on any road. There are much bigger issues at hand, such as angry/aggressive drivers, drunk drivers, distracted drivers, etc to be worried about windows.

Default What it comes down to is if you don't have good visibility for whatever reason, then move to...

where you can see easily.

Default No, it protects the interior, it lowers the summer interior temp, and..................

it protects your items from prying (read thieving) eyes.

Default Re: No downsides as far as I'm concerned - unless you get it too dark, then it becomes hard to...

The tint on the side windows of my topper is 5%, it's been there since '01, never scratched or had an issue with it. Since my pickup is a 4dr with a topper, my fronts are tinted to 35%, my backs are 20% of factory solar glass. In 7yrs I've only had one cop say anything, and that was during a late night traffic stop, otherwise I've had no problems.

Our A6 has 35% all around, even with the dark interior it's not a problem.
