A lot of chain installers really hack up your car. My brother used to be in the industry and some of these places don't care what they do to your car as long as you can't see it when they're finished.

in my experience most of the really talented people dont stick around or only work on the real high end stuff and if your just doing a basic install its likely you are gonna get some rookie that will just half *** it and beat the **** out of your car trying to figure out how to remove door panels, dash, seats etc.
Some have had good encounters with Kustom kar audio in boulder, but I certainly am not one. I happen to know that Ben Abrams had some really serious issues with them as well. However Clay is probably the most talented installer in our area so if you dont mind the price and IMO are willing to make a gamble then yeah sure allot of time has passed since I delat with that place maybe they have cleaned up their act.
If you are not planning on getting real crazy I say do it yourself. Its not as hard as people think.
Sorry for the rant just my 2 cents.

Its like someone else said, about them just covering **** up. I had them build some custom boxes for me and it looked good but at the same time the way they assebled the thing was shotty and week. Ultimatley the beauty boards kept falling apart and I ended up redoing the whole thing. When I really got into the thing I saw **** that made me cringe. Things like broken missing clips every where. wires just wadded up and stuffed in a crevis or crack rather than being cut to propper length and securly tied up. I could go on and on but you get the idea.
