I've come to realize that I don't want to do track days, race or autocross my daily driver, as I don't have the means to replace the car immediately if I do get into a horrific accident.
That said, I'm very interested in karting
Anyone have any pointers (like, where to start reading?). I know I suck at racing, but competition is competition. It's good for the soul.
Thanks!<ul><li><a href="http://www.thecoloradokarter.com/phpBB3/index.php">I've tried The Colorado Karter already.</a></li></ul>

If you are just getting started, a ROTAX would be a great way to get going without spending the farm. You can run a ROTAX for half a season and not have to do much on it other than general maintenance. The racing class is very even as all the engines are the same.
Once you get into the shifter karts, it is a whole other ball game. Lots more $$ and time. But it is a lot faster as well. If you ever want to get out let me know. I head out to the track much as time permits.

because of the two speeds. Karting is tons of fun and much cheaper than tracking your nice daily driver.
