I would NOT go on the ice if I were you....
We were up there on Saturday for the Audi Teen driving school. There was 6-20" of snow covering the ice, some of it in hard drifts that got a Ram 3500 Dually stuck. We tried plowing it and ran into a bigger problem....
HOLES IN THE ICE!!!
The plow came withing 8" of an unseen ice hole and almost went in. Used the dually to pull it out. Then Dave (White) was walking around and fell through past his waist! Luckilly he caught himself and pulled himself out. I was the closest to him at 100 yards away. If he had gone all the way though there was no way I would have made it out there in time to help. We immediately called it off after that.
Unless the ice is clear and you can get an accurate measurement in all places, I would NOT go on the ice right now. Wait another couple of weeks and be safe.

They are careful about ice measurements before setting up the tracks, however...
Like I said below, if there is a lot of snow out there we may all end up depositing belly pans all over the lake after a long day of getting high-centered.
On the bright side, I can't lose my belly pan. It still hasn't been replaced since its departure 2 years ago!

Officially it was 8" thick (I think)
but that's just where they measured. Dave fell through on his own, it wasn't a fishing hole that hade refrozen. You're welcome to go out and try it yourself, but is it really worth falling through? I don't think so.
Just my 2 cents though....
