Default Anyplace in the Colorado mountains to take the kids sleding/tubing?

I know there are tubing hills in Fraser and Coppermountain, but the thought of dropping $60+ for an hour seems a little excessive. I'll do it if there is nothing else, but figured I would ask around first.

Looking for somewhere within 2 hours drive of south Denver. Just needs to be realitively "safe" for younger kids, i.e. not too steep, etc. Brining our own tubes & sleds isn't a problem.

Default Good place in RMNP that my bud went to this weekend

Reportedly was once a ski area so there are nice clear hills. His kids are 2&4 so I know there is safe stuff. Can get details tomorrow if interested.

Default I know the place when I see it...Go up CO 103 Squaw pass toward Mt. Evans from Evergreen

Assuming there's enough snow...there was back in my sledding/tubing days...

At the point on 103 when you intersect Witter Gulch (will be on s side of road), there is an open field on the north side of the road. The field drains north. Back in the early 80's it was a lightly used snowmobile trail - made for a great tubing run.

Sounds like the Hidden Valley snow play area inside the park along Trail Ridge Rd.

Default Come in from one of the Estes Park entrances...

...And follow Trail Ridge Rd. till you get to the first 180 degree turn, and you'll see the sign there for Hidden Valley. It's just a mile or so past where Hwy 34 and 36 meet, and it will be on the right side of the road.

I've never actually gone tubing there, so I don't know how nice it is or anything...I just know where it's at.
