Took it to a dealer to have the brakies done, got it back a week and a half ago, two days after getting it back it started to have problems starting....taking a minute, some electrical things started goin weird, roof wont open all the way or at all, all my windows buttons have to be held to go up and down [no one touch auto up/down anymore], some clicking, it would turn over and run fine after a few seconds trying to start, noticed the volt meter would go waaaayyy down when i turned everything electronic on, then go down some more when stopped at a red light, once it just cut the heat/a-c totally off when i turned everything on to see if the voltage would go down.........then today go to start it and nothing happens but clicking......radio barely works in alt mode with lights on.....dim flash from signals when turning the alarm on

some info:

*the battery is the original battery from 1998 when the car was brand new [guess i should have replaced it by now...lol!]

*i also have a 1500+ watt system since 2000..

*and it is getting to be winter season here in denver - 40'f and less...



so i guess it probably is the battery.

any suggestions?

mine as well replace the battery (~$100-$150). It is 7yrs old anyways and is bound to die soon. Better to have it die at home than be stranded in the middle of nowhere. Otherwise you could have someone jump it to see if that works. After have someone VAG it to see if there are any other problems. There are several people up there with VAG's.

An easy test. Get it started and then disconnect the battery (pos terminal) if it dies, then its the alternator.
