Audio | Just adding sub but want quality install.

I have asked part of this question before, but it has been quite some time and I think I am finally ready to make this happen. For the most part, I am satisfied with the audio of the Bose system (I'm obviously no afficionado). However, I would like to upgrade the low-end response with an aftermarket subwoofer. So based on that I ask the following:
1. Is it worth it to add just a sub to the stock Bose system?
2. Where can I get a "clean" install performed (presently live in Boulder)?
3. What subwoofer/amp combination would one recommend since the majority of the stock system would remain in place?
4. If you live/work close to Boulder, can I see/listen to your setup?
Any additional feedback that would be useful would be appreciated.
