Default Can anyone school me on effects of high altitude and stage III.....

and if anybody here running a stage III kit on a B6 A4 succesfully? I'm seriously thinking of getting the AWE gt28r. Is it worth the money or is it just gonna be a whole bunch of problems later down the line.

Thanks
Luis

Default I have driven one Stage III

Fun fun...

As regard to high alt. under WOT it shouldnt be anything regardless of tuning that an adjustable FPR couldnt compensate for regardless of sea level tuning. Non-WOT runs should be adjusted correctly by O2 sensor, in general.

However w/o an wide-band O2 sensor and/or EGT sort of hard to tell..but I really believe most tuners have enough fudge factor in their tuning for higher-alt. Ask em

Default agreed, when i first got out here at the end of October...

dropped from 18psi spikes down to 13 psi spikes. i had attributed that to the altitude. But, it actually turned out to be my diverter valve had gone south on the drive out here. I swapped in a new diverter valve and i'm spiking at 20 psi now... seems like the software compensated for the altitude fine. although, i'm sure my turbo is working a lot harder than it used to...

Default about a 15% power reduction from sea level, aside from that pretty much the same.

I used to see like 225 to 230 g/s in San Diego, I see like 201 to 203 max here now.

the GT28R will run just fine here.

Default

NA engines = 3% HP loss per 1000 feet. Turbo engines = 1% HP loss per 1000 feet

Default there is an altimeter of such built into the ECU on these cars that will scale air/fuel ratios

accordingly. My APR kit passes emissions with flying colors and the A/F ratio readout from the tail sniffer on the dyno shows like a very healthy 12:1 ratio during WOT.

Default incorrect.

Thay may be true in theory, however, the thinner atmosphere up here really downs the MAF readings, which really downs the power overall.

I've got VAG COM logs as well as tons of dyno information to prove otherwise.

If what you're saying is correct then an APR stage 3 kit that dynos at 225-230 WHP at sea level should dyno at 220ish, however of the two owners up here We have put down 205 and 210 respectively, the higher of the two having a FMIC among other things.

Default been my understanding the turbo helps reduce the loss of HP at altitude

guess I'm wrong
